Description

Mac Demarco to me is someone who I play religiously during the fall season. Someone who I’ve listened too for seems like a lifetime but only around 5 years now, the vibe I seek out is calming, intoxicating with love and peace, Mac Demarco sends those vibes out in a message from song to song. It feels like a web strung together by a beautiful spider! What my goal was for this scent is something that can reflect on the emotional and somewhat physical aspects, while the song itself reflects on emotion and possible spiritual aspects.
To me black tea, warm resins and subtle white florals are the epitome of a relaxation and peace in the heart. black tea soothes the mind and calms down tensed nerves, almost like a wave riding over the soft smooth sand, the resins create a barrier between the florals/ tea it doesn’t block the two from interacting yet slows down the process. As if the two melt into each other.

Moonlight on the river starts off with a lovely, fermented fruit, boronia/Davana forefront, bold yet melts into the blend seamlessly. White florals add a lovely texture and surrounding aura to the top, while not loud these florals give the fermented fruits a grounding, rich feeling, without leaning to fruity or to fermented/boozy. also providing a bridge to the dry down. As you enter the heart, you are greeted with an inviting, warm and playful environment. Resins hold together the blend, they add a sweet slightly coniferous touch, Karo karounde has a sense of enlightenment, floral and purple in all the right ways. Soon after a wave of black tea starts to settle in, it floods the scent with depth and dimension. you reach the base you are met with a lovely tea mélange. Each with their own facets yet creating something truly unique!! Slightly resinous and sticky due to the beautiful fir balsam and poplar bud, this blend holds a dear place in my heart, as these materials I worked with were something truly special, alongside the memories with the song.

A short description of some of the materials used: a good chunk of the materials used in moonlight on the river were quite special to use in many aspects, but one in particular. Which is that these materials were all handmade, sourced and processed by one single woman, Abby from wild veil perfumes which you may have heard me talk about her before, is someone truly special in the natural aromatic perfumery realm. The way she treats each material as special as the rest, taking time and care, using passion, sweat and painstaking energy. She crafts each absolute, each concrete, each enfleurage how i imagine a goddess does, with maximum effort, and true beauty
